Q2 2021 Roundup: Class Action Spending at an All-Time High

Class action lawsuit spending growth is eclipsing spending on other types of litigation. The 2020 Carlton Fields Class Action Survey reports that companies spent $2.9 billion on legal counsel alone to help settle their class action disputes. That number does not include spending on the settlements themselves.

Most class action lawsuits today surround labor and employment, but suits concerning data and privacy are expected to grow substantially in the near future. Those in the industry claim that we have only seen the tip of the iceberg when it comes to privacy class actions. Tech giants like Facebook and TikTok are just two big names that have recently been slapped with hefty class action lawsuits for misuse of customers’ data.

The rise of class action lawsuits may leave you wondering whether or not you may qualify for part of a settlement. Mitena Partners is here to help you figure that out.
